<image:title>Me and the Cottonwood Tree - Chock-full of unbelievable stories, Me and the Cottonwood Tree will enchant readers with the hilarious misadventures of young Herb growing up during some of the most pivotal times in America.</image:title>
<image:caption>From getting stuck in the family outhouse, to buying a donkey as a pet, to creating a giant fireball out of burning Christmas trees, you’ll be taken along for a wild ride full of hysterical stories of Herb growing up through some of America’s most influential moments in history. Set in Arizona and California from 1933 to 1950, this is the story of one boy’s untethered childhood. Herb Bryce grew up as part of a large Mormon family, moving frequently from town to town and house to house. In each new home, Herb learns valuable lessons...and often gets into heaps of mischief along the way. Jump back to a time when kids were given freedom not often allowed to children today—roaming fields and forests, having adventures, and learning about how to create adventure right outside your door.</image:caption>

<image:title>Beyond the Cottonwood Trees - Continue with Herb as he leaves behind his untethered boyhood and journeys on to the adventure called life.</image:title>
<image:caption>In this second installment of his humorous and heartfelt memoir, Herb Bryce leaves the cottonwood trees of his youth behind to begin a new adventure. No longer a child, he discovers the beauty and hardships of adulthood. As he bids high school farewell, Herb revels in a carefree summer. He then experiences the joys of being a young man in college, from football scholarships to falling in love. When Herb is drafted into the Korean War, however, he must join the Navy to fulfill his duty—and grow up in the process. During this time, Herb meets and begins a family with Joyce, with whom he has five children. They eventually settle in the Pacific Northwest where, for many years, Herb lives the all-American dream. But that’s not where his story ends. Though their life seems perfect, Herb and Joyce must reckon with a failing marriage that eventually cracks. Untethered once again, Herb is thrust into the bachelor lifestyle. He discovers a whole new world: women’s liberation and the civil rights movement are in full swing, Herb has long ago left behind his religious lifestyle, and social mores have drastically changed. Then enters Gloria, a free and independent spirit with a big heart. Together they take on the world and follow their dreams. Filled with love, laughs, and tears, Herb’s story is a nostalgic look at an era of great change and upheaval. Beyond the Cottonwood Trees is both a reflection on and an adventure through this silly little thing called life.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - Born in small-town Arizona in 1933, Herb Bryce grew up during a time of great change in America. His was a childhood of freedom—getting into trouble and, with the loving support of his family, managing to get himself out of it.</image:title>
<image:caption>While writing this book, I’ve come to see how much my childhood revolved around cottonwood trees. One of my fondest memories is of my grandma sitting in the shade of a cottonwood tree, knitting and watching her kids play on the swing. I loved to climb cottonwoods, and swing from cottonwoods, and attempt to build tree houses in cottonwoods, and sneak off to meet girls using cottonwoods, and occasionally fall out of cottonwoods.</image:caption>
